Why credits matter
A 1-credit class contributes twice as much as a 0.5-credit class. Multiply each grade point value by course credits, add the quality points, then divide by all valid credits. A simple average is correct only when every class has the same credit value.
Exclude pass/fail or repeated courses only when your school's written policy says to exclude them.
