Scope and operator
This policy applies to GradeHorizon.com and pages published under that domain. GradeHorizon is an independently operated educational website. Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected].
GPA planner data
The planner stores course names, selected grades, course levels, credit values, and what-if scenarios in the browser's localStorage under a GradeHorizon site key. This information remains on the device and browser profile where it was entered. The current prototype does not transmit planner entries to a GradeHorizon account, database, analytics service, or advertising parameter.
Visitors can remove this information with the Reset planner control or by clearing GradeHorizon site data in browser settings. Because the information is stored locally, GradeHorizon cannot recover a deleted plan or retrieve it from another device.
Technical information processed automatically
When GradeHorizon is hosted publicly, the hosting provider, content-delivery network, and security services may process ordinary request information needed to deliver and protect the website. This can include the requested URL, date and time, IP address, general device and browser information, referring page, response status, and security signals.
This information is used for website delivery, reliability, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and aggregate performance review. We do not ask visitors to place grades, GPA values, course names, student IDs, or other education records in page URLs.
Information sent by email
If a visitor contacts GradeHorizon, we receive the email address, message content, and attachments the sender chooses to provide. We use this information to respond, investigate a correction or technical issue, protect the site, and maintain a reasonable record of the communication.
Do not email transcripts, student identification numbers, school account credentials, medical information, or other sensitive records. Correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose of the communication, operational records, dispute handling, or legal obligations.
Cookies and similar technologies
The current prototype does not include Google Analytics or Google AdSense code and does not set GradeHorizon account cookies. The planner uses localStorage for the on-device function described above. LocalStorage is a browser storage technology, but it is not sent automatically with each web request in the way a cookie is.
If GradeHorizon later enables analytics or advertising, this policy and the site's consent controls will be updated before those tools are enabled where required.
Google advertising and third parties
GradeHorizon may use Google AdSense in the future. If enabled, Google and its advertising partners may place or read cookies, use web beacons or similar technologies, and receive information such as the page URL, IP address, browser or device information, advertising identifiers, and interaction data. These technologies can be used to deliver ads, limit repetition, measure performance, prevent fraud and abuse, and personalize advertising where the visitor has the required choice or consent.
Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and describes advertising cookies in its Advertising privacy documentation.
GradeHorizon will not intentionally pass course names, grades, planner scenarios, GPA results, student IDs, or other personally identifying education information to Google in ad requests or analytics parameters.
Advertising and browser choices
- Use browser settings to block or delete cookies and site data.
- Use Google My Ad Center to manage Google ad personalization where available.
- Use industry choice tools such as YourAdChoices where applicable.
- Decline optional advertising consent through the site's consent message when one is presented.
Blocking storage may affect saved planner scenarios or advertising preferences but should not prevent access to the site's published educational content.
EEA, UK, and Switzerland
Before serving personalized Google ads to visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, GradeHorizon will use a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the applicable Transparency and Consent Framework. The consent message will identify the relevant purposes and partners and allow the visitor to make the choices required by the configuration and local law.
Until that consent system and regional configuration are deployed, GradeHorizon should not enable personalized advertising for those visitors.
Children and student audiences
GradeHorizon is a general-audience educational website and is not directed specifically to children under 13. The site does not provide student accounts, social features, comments, or transcript uploads. Some guides may be useful to families with middle-school students, but the calculator does not need a child's name, age, school, or contact information.
Children under 13 should not email personal information to GradeHorizon. A parent or guardian can contact us instead. If advertising is enabled, GradeHorizon will review age-related treatment and child-directed page settings before serving ads on content likely to attract younger users.
Sharing and disclosure
GradeHorizon does not sell planner entries. Information may be processed by providers that host, secure, deliver, or support the site; by advertising or analytics providers only when those services are enabled and disclosed; or when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business transfer.
Security and retention
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information under GradeHorizon's control. No website or email system can guarantee absolute security. Locally stored planner data remains until the visitor resets it, clears site data, or the browser removes it. Provider logs and contact correspondence are retained according to operational need, provider settings, security requirements, and applicable obligations.
Policy updates
Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised effective date. If a change introduces a new optional data use that requires consent, GradeHorizon will request that choice before the new use begins where required.
